Here is my bio!! My name is Emily (she/her) and I am delighted to joining Greenway Midwifery as a Registered Midwife. I acknowledge the privilege it is to be working on the traditional territories of the Kwikwetlem First Nation, within the shared and overlapping territories of the Tsleil-Waututh, Katzie, Musqueam, Qayqayt, Squamish, Stó:lō nations. As a birth worker, I honour the Indigenous birth workers who have cared for and continue to care for families on this land and commit to ongoing learning and respectful practice.
I completed my midwifery education at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and decided to make the move to start practice in beautiful British Columbia. I have enjoyed serving the Tri-Cities and New Westminster communities, and am looking forward to my new role working with the team at Greenway! I have been drawn to reproductive health and pregnancy from a young age, so working as a midwife is both a dream come true and a deep privilege.
Before beginning my midwifery education, I earned a Bachelor of Science from Queen’s University with a focus on Psychology and Life Sciences. My studies centred on infant development, the psychology of parenting, and mental health, and it was during this time that I developed a strong appreciation for the profound impact emotional safety and mental wellbeing can have on pregnancy, birth, postpartum experiences, and neonatal outcomes. These values are what ultimately drew me to midwifery. I am passionate about the midwifery model of care, which prioritizes continuity, relationship-based care, and informed, evidence-based decision-making that empowers clients throughout their care.
Outside of work, I enjoy trying new and delicious foods, staying active, and relaxing with movies or cheesy reality shows, always with a big bowl of popcorn!
I look forward to walking alongside families as they navigate their unique journeys through pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. It is an honour to support clients with compassionate, individualized care during such a meaningful and transformative time.
